Terms of Service

Effective date: July 11, 2026

1. What PayNorth is (and is not)

PayNorth is a calculation and record-keeping tool that estimates statutory payroll deductions using the Canada Revenue Agency's published T4127 Payroll Deductions Formulas and produces pay statements. PayNorth is not tax, legal or accounting advice; it is not payroll processing (it moves no money); and it does not file anything with any government. You remain solely responsible for verifying results (the CRA's Payroll Deductions Online Calculator is the recommended check), remitting correct amounts on time, and complying with the Income Tax Act, the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and all other applicable law.

2. Your data, your device

The application stores your information in your browser on your device. We have no copy. You are responsible for maintaining backups using the built-in export tools. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from cleared browser storage, device loss or failure, or absent backups.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use PayNorth only to produce truthful pay statements reflecting real employment and real amounts. Producing false, misleading or fraudulent pay stubs — for example, to misrepresent income to a lender or landlord — is prohibited, may be a criminal offence, and is grounds for termination of access without refund.

4. Accuracy and updates

We make reasonable efforts to implement CRA formulas faithfully and to publish updates following CRA's January 1 and July 1 editions, and each statement identifies the formula edition used. Statutes and administrative practice change, and errors are possible. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pay North shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for penalties, interest, assessments or amounts owing to any tax authority or employee, arising from use of the service. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amounts you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing).

6. Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are not currently offered. When the Pro plan launches, this section will be updated with pricing, billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms before any payment is collected.

7. Changes to the service and these terms

We may modify the service and these terms; material changes will be posted with a new effective date, and continued use constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction.
